Time To Take Control

In the world that we live in today, times have become competitive. Since a very early time our mindsets have been pre programmed to live a certain way of life. When our lives waiver from this ideal path of our society we get depressed, we feel the weight the world brings down on us.  As we grow, evolve and awaken to this reality, we learn that it is in our best interests to uninstall some of this programming and take back control of our minds.

As life progresses and we move into this new phase of my life it is time to slay the dragons that stand between you and your fears. It’s hard because of all the emotions going through you, all the turmoil you have been through that disempower us. They drive us into compulsive egoism, rather than meaningful connections and emotional freedom.  While going through this journey here are some of the key aspects I abide by to flip the switch:

  1. Be selective about the media you consume: In tough times you come across several people with distinct opinions. Some which you resonanate with some you dont.  Each media has a right to opinion but selective consumption is the key to success. Keep yourself positive and motivated. Life can only be upwards from here and thats what you have to live for.
  2. Stop wishing for it and start working for it: It is an easy way to abode by the traditionals of life but very difficult to be an outlier. Do what you have to do today so you can be what you want tomorrow? If not, now is the time to start working for it.
  3. Flip your perspective from negative to positive:  We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses. You’ve heard this before. Don’t let negativity influence you. When others are being negative, ignore them. their negativity can do no good to anyone. Dont react. Sometime being quiet is more powerful than saying anything. It takes great restrain to be quiet.
  4. Loosen your grip on the past: Sometimes we have to let go of what’s killing us, even if it’s killing us to let go. Letting go means to come to the realization that some circumstances and relationships are a part of your history, but not a part of your destiny. Cry. Live you stages of grief, Acknowledge Accept and Move on. I know its easier said than done. But can you imagine a life of past? In that intermediate stage just cause you have fear the unknown.
  5. Give yourself a break: Yes, you have battles out in the world to fight, insecurities to overcome, loved ones to contend with and goals to achieve, but a break from it all is necessary. It’s perfectly healthy to pause and let the world spin without you for a while.
  6. Take A Relationship Inventory: Think about the people in your life and their role in it. How do they make you feel? How do they support you? Do you feel you can trust them? Count on them? If you have people in your life who bring you down (or worse, push you down) it’s time to do a bit of summer cleaning.
  7. Stop Making (and Accepting) Excuses: We all have had reasons to say hurtful things, be hurt in turn by people, make poor choices, engage in unhealthy choices people habits or relationships. Its time to accept it. Stand firm. This is normal.  This is a new day.  A new beginning.  And things will change for the better.

5 poems to strike the self-love in you.

Dear One, Don’t give up!! You are strong and it is you against the world.

This was something my mother told me once when I was in the darkest phases of my life. A phase of self-inflicted pain from decisions I have taken in my life which tossed me on a path of thorns which penetrated every part of my soul. It created wounds I felt would never heal and I wouldn’t say they have at the moment. However, they have made me the strongest in my life today than I have ever been.

Who are you? Ask yourself this question and reflect on your thoughts. Let me lay the definition out for here. You are the Strength in yourself to fight the would, You are love you give out to make others feel special, You are the motivation with you live to be better each day. You are somebody that cannot be defined by the five letter word pretty, just the word ‘pretty’ is unworthy of everything you will be. You are pretty intelligent, pretty creative, pretty amazing just the way you are.

Yes, I am human and I have my moments of weakness but I am my own rock.                This is the biggest thought my mother has instilled in me that I can never be thankful enough for. She has set the firm motivation of self-love to help me be afloat in moments of sadness. I hope these below poems can do the same for you and help me share my power with you to stay strong together.

1.Being Me: Part-1

Why would you want to be someone else
When you could be better by being yourself
Why be a shadow of a thing
When you have something they haven’t got

Cheating yourself of the life you are living
Deprive yourself the joy of giving
Deprive others of that only which you can give, yourself
You have much more to offer by being just you

2. Being Me: Part-2

Trying to live the life of another is a mistake
It is a masquerade; nothing more than a fake
Be yourself and let your qualities show through
Others will love you more for being just you

Remember that God loves you just as you are
To Him you are already a bright shining star
Family and friends will love you more too
If you spent time practicing just being you

3. I will rise

I can’t run the fastest
I can’t swim the sea
I can’t type the quickest
but I love being me
Yes I am quite
At times I can be meek
But doesn’t make me weak
I have the storm in me to change milestones
You see, this is my life
as others would see
they don’t know what it’s like
to really be me
I have suffered and I have lived
I have travelled and I have seen
Not just the world but the whirlwind of human emotions
I have lots I can teach you
I have loads I can share
you will never gain my wisdom
if you just point and stare
So maybe I can’t run the fastest
maybe I can’t kick a ball
but I wouldn’t change being me
not for you, or anyone at all

4. Self

being me not self centered
Caring and kind hoping to find
The best there is in human kind
Trying not to be judgmental
At the same time be conversational
Trying to see both sides as a one
Often conceded as soft hearted
Taken to the heart
Often known for a few tear jerker’s
Funny humors to the core
Less often a bore
Love to have around
To brake a frown
Always willing to lend a hand
Love giving not receiving
Patience in life’s everyday situations
Great listener ready to give good feed back
A survivor not a fighter
A forgiver not a forgetter
Strong minded protective when it comes
To the ones I love
To sum it all up I am just me myself and I
I love being my self

This final poem is one of my favorites I have come across.

5.Not

You are not your age,
Nor the size of clothes you wear,
You are not a weight,
Or the colour of your hair.
You are not your name,
Or the dimples in your cheeks,
You are all the books you read,
And all the words you speak.
You are your croaky morning voice,
And the smiles you try to hide,
You’re the sweetness in your laughter,
And every tear you’ve cried.
You’re the songs you sing so loudly,
When you know you’re all alone,
You’re the places that you’ve been to,
And the one that you call home.
You’re the things that you believe in,
And the people that you love,
You’re the photos in your bedroom,
And the future you dream of.
You’re made of so much beauty,
But it seems that you forgot,
When you decided that you were defined,
By all the things you’re not.
